About this Video: In most audio systems, signal quality is at highest risk when signals are transported from one piece of equipment to another or to many others. Because analog interfaces are widely misunderstood by both equipment makers and users, producing clean, noise-free signals in real-world systems can be challenging. Bill Whitlock explains how dynamic range problems such as hum, buzz, and RF interference occur in balanced and unbalanced interfaces as well as the role of power line "treatments" and grounding in solving or creating problems. Bill Whitlock compares performance of balanced input circuits in real-world systems.
Bill is chairman of the AES Standards Committee working group on grounding and EMC and has designed pro audio and video electronics for over 25 years. He was manager of electronic development for Capitol Records until 1989, when he became president of Jensen Transformers. His work is focused on system interfacing issues about which he teaches and writes for several magazines. Bill holds two patents, with five more pending, and is an active member of the AES, IEEE, and SBE. A free information-packed handout will be provided.
What is a Video Isolation Transformer? Eliminates shock hazard. Gets rid of hum bars, double images and noise caused by ground loops. 75W in and output. No more ground loops caused by video power or bad gennies hooked to a system far away. Keep between any two gadgets on separate power sources like camera and video system or motor home or audio and never get shocked. Insert between monitors that run on different (dirty) grounds and you will not get noise or garbage images. Insert between the Afterburner and video assist or sound and video assist and you will not make groundloops between the many different ground references. http://www.jensen-transformers.com/
