Health Care Options
Very low cost partial coverage for Members not currently qualified for the Health Plan

A new program called “Bridge to Health” offers limited health care services to members who have not accrued enough hours to qualify for the Motion Picture Health Plan.  Available to members and their dependents age 13 and up, office visits cost only $25 and lab services and x-rays are free when performed at the Motion Picture clinics.  For complete details and eligibility information, see www.mptvfund.org/page.aspx?pid=528
Full Health Care for Members who did not Qualify
The Industry Advantage Health Plans offer members the chance to purchase full medical coverage using the doctors and resources of the Motion Picture & Television Fund.  For details, see www.mptvfund.org/health-plans
“Health Wheels” takes Health Care On-Location
“Health Wheels” is a 33-foot mobile health center with two well-equipped private examination rooms and staffed with a doctor and licensed vocational nurse. Available to members covered by the health plan as well as members participating in the "Bridge to Health" program (see above).  To find out where Health Wheels will be next, visit the Health Wheels page www.mptvfund.org/health-wheels

Elder Connection
[external site] or call (323) 634-3866
The Motion Picture & Television Fund’s Elder Connection program provides guidance, resources, and hands-on assistance to senior adults and their families who are experiencing lifestyle issues related to aging.

Lower Co-Payments on Medications
Save money with reduced co-payments on prescription medications if you order through the Medco mailer-order service (formerly AdvanceRx.com, formerly formerly PCS.) Details here.

Almost Free Medical Check-ups (just $5 co-payment)
The Motion Picture & Television Industry Fund continues to offer Comprehensive Physical Exams (CPE) free of charge (after the $5 co-payment) once every 12 months.  This service is intended to assess your overall health and identify any unhealthy risk factors that might affect your health in the future.  It is no longer necessary to request a voucher in advance.  Just contact any MPHW clinic to schedule an appointment.

Predesignation of Personal Physician
When the California Workers' Comp Laws were amended, Organized Labor worked hard to maintain the Worker's right to choose their own doctor in the event of on-the-job injury... otherwise, the Employer gets to pick your doctor.  To retain your right to choose your own doctor, the Predesignation of Personal Physician Form must be submitted to your employer each time you start a job.  Don't forget to keep a copy for your records.

“ICE” Your Phone
Our cell phones carry a lot of stored numbers but nobody other than ourselves would know which numbers to call in an emergency.  Promoters of the “ICE” campaign (In Case of Emergency) want you to store emergency contacts under the phone entry ICE because paramedics and emergency response people are trained to look for ICE information. ICE your phone right now.
